This year for the Christmas special, Grace Church is doing a revised version of last year's Little Drummer Boy musical, which was a revised version of the same from a few years earlier. Last year was my first time seeing it and it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I am including a link to a YouTube page that has 4 teasers from last year's performance to give you a taste of what you might see this year.....if you make can make it up here to see it. Within the teasers, it gives the dates and times for the performances this year. Enjoy!
I am fascinated by lyrics. I am the guy that still buys physical cds for the artwork and the ability to have the lyrics at hand. The last time I posted lyrics, it was from a band called Sleeping at Last. It was from their "Ghosts" cd. This song is from the same band...only from their latest "Keep No Score". Guys, keep putting out great music. The cd is in constant rotation with me. The song is called Careful Hands. Enjoy.
Put your coat on, this city trembles.
Keep your chin up, as you untangle God
From cold blood and bruises.
We are X-rays of something broken.
Cursive bloodlines write every forecast:
An orchestration Of dissonance and innocent surrender.
When our color dies,
We will bury the ashes of time,
And we will earn new eyes.
Wrists get tired rewriting futures.
Our bodies beg us to be creatures of habit.
We are creatures of habit.
Only with careful hands
We'll turn their fangs into feathers and cures.
Only with careful hands
We'll divide the prisoner
From the pioneer.
Clever beauty,
Umbrellas folding.
In architecture, our lines will measure
A map to find us.
Blue ink will guide us home.
Cranes are creeping, lifting metal,
We will find new ways to settle,
Tipping scales from the killer to its prey.
I can feel the weight around us,
Climbing every rib inside us,
A sanctuary in a lion's mouth.

Did you shop for great deals on Black Friday or Cyber Monday? Or did you observe Buy Nothing Day?
I did happen to peruse the local Wal Mart at about 5 a.m. last Friday(I just happened to be strolling right by it) and checked out the cheap DVD's and couldn't really find one I wanted to buy......and then left. :)
I haven't heard of this band or this song before yesterday, but I am oh so tempted to pick up the newest cd from "No More Kings". The song and video is called Sweep The Leg and is based on the oh so famous "Sweep the leg, Johnny" scene from The Karate Kid. The band even got original movie cast members to be in the so very sweet vid. Check it out!
This is a pretty cool little video. Check it out.
It's been quite a while since I've updated this....considering the best time for me to do this is right before I start work. Most of the time, my mind isn't working well enough at 6:30 am to form a cohesive post (and to think that I am writing this at 4.45 am.....and before my first cup of coffee boggles me!!) . Just a little about what I've been up to. I've known that for the last year that if something big didn't happen at work this year I would probably be going back to school to get something more specific than my current B.S. in General Business. I'm currently considering an MBA either from Missouri Baptist College, Webster University or going back to SIUE. If SIUE is in the works I'll consider their Masters in Marketing Research which almost has a 100% job placement! Right now it doesn't look like much may be happening with work so I figure I have a bit of time to decide before early next Spring gets here when I'll want to get it in gear and send in my applications.
I wanted to leave with these words from a fine band from Chicago, IL called Sleeping at Last. Their debut, Ghosts, which is GREAT can be bought at most Best Buys/Borders/etc., and their fantastic follow-up, Keep No Score, should be able to be purchased online. I got my copy from www.relevantstore.com.
Here is "Skeleton of Something More"
In the darkest of nights,
The city of lights
Will pour unto us.
Creeping inside
Through our sleepy eyes,
Contagiously bright
Like sunlight and rain
Flooding through the veins
Of wilted vines.
But love travels like a rumor here,
Losing form with every ear,
A skeleton of something more.
But waking seems an awful dream.
We'll be waiting for the night,
Waiting for the night
To come and rescue us,
Feet off the ground.
Besides, we're living in this house of cards
That pulls and pushes with the air.
Fearing a feather to the earth
Could destroy it and us,
Inside unaware!
All we want is something more
To dream about and to adore.
All we need is a little place
To close our eyes, to end this chase.
The living are moving,
Gracefully
And painfully rushing ahead,
While unraveling the most essential thread
Of the fabric that covers us.
We'll be waiting for the night,
Waiting for the night
To always come and rescue us,
Feet off the ground,
Our hearts become magnetized.
The warmth of the sun
Is melting the snowflakes
Before they hit the ground.
